Summer
We are tidying up some of the piles of books and corralling them back into the bookshelves. In the jockying for space, some books have been given the heave-ho. If anyone is interested in adopting a book or two or three, you have a week to announce your intentions and make it worth my time to get the book(s) to you.   Mostly, we were cleaning out the sci fi/fantasy shelves, but a few random things jumped into the box as well.  HB = hardback; QP = big paperback; PB = regular mass-market paperback.

Just to warn you, yelling first will not automatically guarantee that you get the book. First dibs will go to the people with whom I normally trade books, such as my sister and Amazonmink, because I want to stay on their good sides. ::grin::

Also, a disclaimer must be stated here: Some of these books were acquired as "gifts" in the form of "I'm moving! Take this box!" handoffs of a very random variety. As such, please put it out of your mind that I might have ever paid money for a hardback L. Ron Hubbard.

Darnit. And I was having fun concocting a story about how you ended up with L. Ron Hubbard's stuff. For a moment, it veered towards Thomas Covenant, but that frightened me. :)

I have such a hard time getting rid of books. I'm impressed with your fortitude.

I recommend doing this when you are in a SICK OF TRIPPING OVER CRAP mood. It makes it a little easier to be a hardass and really get rid of that second hardback copy of Obsidian Butterfly, and that third copy of Ender's Game. Not kidding. We still have one HB of Obsidian Butterfly, and one HB and one PB of Ender's Game.

Let me know what you want and I can try to bring them to the truck handoff tomorrow.

So glad to hear we may be getting more books ;-) Its like Christmas whenever there's a new book.

Plus, I love to watch the movers shudder when they realize the thousands of books they get to pack and load for us. Nothing like having a weight limit that is almost all books and a piano. It should be a terrific move.

And I firmly believe all children should be Bibliophibians! (I wonder if that could be my new political leanings/slogan?)

In that vein, we would love Ender's Game and Speaker for The Dead, as ours went the way of "read so much, they fell apart". I would like the Harry Harrison as well. Don't need the L. Ron Hubbard, we were given a bunch when we lived in LA. And I just never got drunk enough to buy in. *Heck, maybe the ones you are passing forward are our old ones.*

I don't think I have ever read Michael Gear, Kenneth Von Gunden, or David Clement-Davies. But if you think we would like them and no one else calls it, please go ahead and send them on. Everything else, we either own or have read and don't need to own. But thanks so much for the opportunity to rummage through your virtual bookshelves. So much fun.

I can't speak for the Gear or the Gunden. The Davies was really good, but really slow. It's all about the chosen leader of the deer herds, you know. Very prophetic and Lion King-esque.

Your box is on the way!
14th-May-2011 12:05 pm (UTC)
What can I do to make it worth your while for the Karen Chance books?
14th-May-2011 02:46 pm (UTC)
Unless Amazonmink says otherwise, they are probably available for you. Let me know in an email if you have a local-to-me person to take them, or if you need them mailed. then I can decide if it is too much hassle.

I got your note. I have a box that will fit them, too. So unless A.M. hollers, I'll get them in the mail to you soon.
18th-May-2011 11:29 am (UTC)
I haven't read these, so if everyone is amenable, I'll pick up the shipping costs for them as compensation for delaying them a week :P
19th-May-2011 01:18 pm (UTC)
I'm good with it. BFF? Are you good?
18th-May-2011 03:06 pm (UTC)
I don't think I ever got around to collecting the Wheel of Time series, so I'd be interested in that. :)

I could probably get them from you next time you're at Nature's Yarns or we'll just have to have dinner together soon whenever you're available. :)
19th-May-2011 01:19 pm (UTC)
Sure. They are yours. We can work out the details.

I was threatening AmazonMink that I was going to bring the box to knitting group and assign book reports...
20th-May-2011 07:44 pm (UTC)
I'll take the laurel k hamilton and the charlaine harris if they are still up for grabs....
20th-May-2011 07:47 pm (UTC)
They are yours! I'll put them aside and we can figure out a time when we cross paths. Or I can give them to Wahyagar on Wednesday.
21st-May-2011 04:16 am (UTC)
Are Unusual Suspects and Hellhounds still available? I'd enjoy at least skimming them.
21st-May-2011 03:17 pm (UTC)
They are available and they are yours now. Did you want Dark and Stormy Knights as well?
22nd-May-2011 01:21 pm (UTC)
Sure! Thanks. And now off to wirk with me.
22nd-May-2011 07:08 pm (UTC)
Okey dokey. Are you ever down in this neighborhood anymore? Or do you need me to mail them to you? If so, send me a note to reedrover at livejournal dot com with your current address and I'll plop you a box.

I know we'll be down in the Fairfax area at least once between now and 6/15. Would you be maybe free for visiting and book hand-off or does it make more sense just to post them? I know you have a lot going on with your folks and the contractors and stuff and I'm happy to cover you whatever shipping winds up costing if that works better for you.
24th-May-2011 03:23 pm (UTC)
I have a lot going on, but I *might* be free...? You'll have to let me know more specifics than a three-week window. ::grin:: If not, then I'm happy to ship them. Right now, they are wandering around with me in the back of my car.
24th-May-2011 03:31 pm (UTC)
I'll know my schedule for next month hopefully this week. At this point, I know I'm off this Fri/Sat/Sun and visiting J's sister, but beyond that I don't have any idea when I'm working. Hopefully I'll have my schedule by Thursday... maybe.
