Jared vs. Loki, the annual beat-down

Every year, after breeding season is over, I put all of my bucks back together in one pasture for the winter. They have to sort out the pecking order each time they come back together. Cookie-goat is still not interested in asserting dominance, so he was only caught in the action by accident a couple of times (I have photos). This beat-down was almost completely Loki vs. Jared. The video below is from about 2/3 through the fight. The area where they were fighting was a torn-up sea of mud. Both of the goats were mouth-open panting, and really slowing down by this point. For those of you who are new to the farm, Jared is grey, and Loki is tan.

I assure you that this is a supervised fight, in case anyone gets an ankle caught between horns. I'm glad I was right there on top of them this time, because Loki went for the legs four times. And yes, they are both covered in blood due to Jared's left ear getting split open almost at the beginning of the fight.

The weird part was that Jared looked so impressive, but in the end, he lost. Loki basically let Jared tire himself out with all of the posturing, then went for low blows. I expect that Jared is not going to take it all that well, and that there will be a bit more sparring on and off over the next few weeks.

You Shall Not Pass! You Shall Not Pass!
Jared does quite a nice extension.

This was really a battle between Loki and Jared. Cookie was only accidentally caught up in the whole thing. He got out as soon as he could.
All that blood for a split ear All that blood for a split ear
By the end of the buck beat-down, both Jared and Loki were covered in blood. The blood was almost all just from Jared's split ear.
