Goats, gripes, and grasping for greatness
Books: an Artificial Night
30th-May-2011 01:52 pm
Read Irresponsibly
I read An Artificial Night rather quickly, which I credit to Seanan McGuire's ability to write characters the way I want to feel them. I read the first half in Friday night, and put it down at its natural break. On Saturday night, I followed Toby into the lands of the Wild Hunt to rescue the children, and again, and again. The story never went where I saw it going, and left tears in my eyes more than once at times when my logical forebrain did not think I needed to cry. I cared about the failures, and about the crusty old Firstborn who didn't want to care... It was a great book, and surprisingly strong for a third in a series.

I think you will enjoy Local Habitation. I felt it was the strongest yet. Because each book has just gotten better, I am awaiting the drop date of One Salt Sea avidly.

Local Habitation was fine. I'm about 2/3 through Late Eclipses now...
