Goats, gripes, and grasping for greatness
The continuing Astor saga
20th-Jul-2011 09:23 am
Astor-goat is definitely on the mend. He was up and poking his head through the fence this morning for his share of grain. All systems are still "go" properly, which was one of my biggest worries with all of the changes in diet. His pellets are slightly clumped together, but they are formulated as pellets, and are solid inside.

Unfortunately, in the argument this morning, Astor aspirated some of his goop, so now I'm on the watch for pneumonia. I may have to shoot him up with antibiotics as a precaution tonight if he's still coughing. On the other side, he's interested enough in food that I can probably give up on the 30ccs of goop 2 times a day and go back to just Red Cell. I simply need to be sure that he *always* has hay available, since that seems to be perking him up even more than grain.

Oddly, it appears that B12 / Thiamine is now going behind the counter. The woman at the co-op who was investigating their lack of stock called me back to say that VA is restricting distribution due to bodybuilders using it as an injectable. ::sigh:: Stupid people messing life up for farmers again.

Argh. That's so aggravating about the B12. On the other hand, I'm so glad to read about Astor's improvements.
