Things I learned tonight about caramel apples
12th-Oct-2011 09:58 pm
Teamed up
Do not put caramel-covered apples in the refrigerator.
If you do refrigerate your caramel apple, do not attempt to remove it from the handy plastic container by the little wooden popsicle stick.
If you do decide to eat the unthawed-and-rock-solid (and now stick-filled) caramel-covered apple, cut it up first so that you can get your teeth into it.
... Yes, a cutting board is a really REALLY good idea.
If you do decide to cut up the apple, be sure to grasp it firmly so that it does not go shooting off the cutting board like a marble when the knife skids off that hard outer shell.
You know how the caramel is now a solid? Well, the apple inside is assuredly not.

... Get a napkin. Better yet, get some paper towels.

Mmmmmmm. Messy!

I like both flavors, and I like the juxtaposition of the sweet caramel with the tangy juice of the apple. ::shrug:: It is part contrast and part compliment in the flavors, I think.
