ETA: I can credit Aunt Miz and one well-timed phone call with thirty-cough years of Cabin memories. It was her husband who bought the other men out and carried it for almost a decade by himself. When he died back in the early 80's, Aunt Miz called Mom and said that she was fed up and selling it, and if Mom wanted it, this was her one chance. My parents jumped with both feet. I think I was seven or eight years old at the time. I remember that we had been summer-house-hunting that year, and my parents were putting a bid on a place in Oregon. Miz called, and Mom told the real estate agent to "tear up the check" because we had our dream drop in our lap.
RIP Mary Elizabeth Finlayson Becker
