Death by chocolate ice cream
29th-Jun-2012 10:45 pm

We went down to the store for ice cream, and while we were there, the storm blew in. CK drove us home in whipping wind and gusting rain... Then it became beating wind and sheeting rain. We stopped multiple times to pull trees out of the road. CK dodged and swerved and plain ran over a lot of debris on a rather wild four-mile ride home.

We got home to no power (it's still out - shocker!) and to my amusement, CK pulled the car right up to the front porch. It is a smart move, though, since it spreads out the targets and reduces the chances that one tree can take out all three vehicles. Of course, just after we got inside there was a large cracking-tree sound from the northeast of the property, toward the front left corner of the front pasture. CK reports that it also looks like something is down on the truck too. The joy...

Glad you are safe.

Randy, Doc, and I went out for dinner last night. Storm blew in as we were finishing up. Got the check paid ~before~ the power went out in the restaurant. Then drove the mile home at about 5 mph. Granted, it was a short drive and on fully paved suburban roads, but still lots of tree debris all over the roads. But, no trees large enough that are close enough to the parking lot of the TH community to damage any of our vehicles. We got home to no power, as well. However, it came back on at about 4:15 am and, other than a few blinks here and there, has stayed on, thank goodness.
