Our new hot water heater is a weird hybrid that is half heat pump and half traditional coil heater. That's not as relevant as the proof that it also has some rocking good insulation. We still had warm-enough water this morning for my shower, 2.5 days after we lost power. And, happily, the power came back on this morning while I was in the shower. I didn't notice. I was saying good-bye to CK when he noticed that the ceiling fan (which is not on the generator's circuits) was turning.
I've been battling a headache all weekend that appears to be both weather- and allergy-related. We left all of the windows open last night to take advantage of any cool air going by. At 1:30 AM, a thunderstorm blew in and dropped the temperature to the low 60's. After running downstairs to put the generator away, and mostly-closing a few south-west-facing windows, I put my wet washcloth back over my eyes to block out the lightening flashes, and dropped right to sleep. Despite all of the windows being open, my headache didn't come back (or I didn't notice it) until I was outside doing chores.
