PSA -- Veterans Day to honor American Heroines

Thursday, as we honor the sacrifices America's military has made to protect and serve our nation, don't forget the 1.7 million women who've served in the armed forces. Today, about 216,400 women are on active duty in the five branches of the military; 163,832 more are Reservists, and 62,902 are in the Army and Air National Guards. Women make up about 9% of the 231,260 U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Pentagon reports at press time.
