Goats, gripes, and grasping for greatness
LJ scrubbing
8th-Oct-2013 11:34 am
I don't come to LJ to read about the daily news. I don't come to LJ to be depressed about the futility of the human existance en masse. I come to LJ to read about the thoughts, activities, musings, discoveries, tragedies, and joys in other lives to which I feel connection or in which I have interest.

So I revamped my friendslist again. While going through the list, I discovered some people had friended me who have good brain. Some people who hadn't posted in a long time, or only post politics/re-tweets/video links are now off of the list.

Also my intent with LJ.

I hope it is successful!

Thank you. And I'm glad you have a similar opinion.

I'm not really looking for massive lists of links to other people's work or huge political rants without thoughtful analysis. Sure, once in a while I'll post an obituary or a newslink, but that is more for my record than for anyone reading my journal. Because yeah, it's my journal. I'm just letting other people read what's going on in my head. And when it comes to letting other people read my thoughts - I like LJ as a way to share my perspective on the world, the farm happenings, good books, etc. while keeping it organized for me.

Woohoo, I made the cut! go me!

::laugh:: Yes, indeed.

You should post more often. It should be about airplanes. Or puppies. Or both!

Puppies flying airplanes!

I bet goats would love to hang glide.

I agree!

I'm not averse to friends posting genuine *insights* into things that are happening in the news. But yes, the thoughtless rants are getting pretty tiresome.

Whereas I've learned not to read your blog when I'm tired. Your "how irrational" quiz was fascinating, but I just couldn't follow the answer key at 1AM...

Woot! I think this means I wasn't cut. Glad I still make the "interesting on a personal level" grade. I wouldn't blame you if you fled from my latest post, though.... :)

Actually, this post is public. But yes, I still have you on my list. ::smile::

I went to your journal and saw I could still see locked posts. :-). I'm a tester! I tested this hypothesis.
9th-Oct-2013 12:55 pm (UTC)
How many use cases did you run? What kind of user story are you writing? Is this ISO 9001:2008 compliant?
9th-Oct-2013 01:28 pm (UTC)
Since this is a very small project and none of the funds are government, that lowers the paperwork considerably and allows for ISO 9001:2008 compliance. As the only requirement for this project was that 1 particular user(A) had access to at least some locked posts by a specific User B, testing was able to be completed in a timely manner. Additional use cases have not been created but will be, upon need and/or when the inevitable scope creep occurs.

when the inevitable scope creep occurs

Ah! I see you do have real-world experience here...
9th-Oct-2013 02:50 pm (UTC)
My main real-world experience is deflection of scope-creep. "I'm not tasked to do that right now, but sounds good. Why don't you talk to my manager about putting on my tasking?"

No, it wasn't personal, but yes, your spew of posts was the push into action for me. Admittedly, what you post is usually interesting, but only in small doses. I'm not really interested in post after post of huge cut/pastes of other people's reports without commentary.

This blog view is the one that I read and refresh repeatedly over the day. Seeing post after post on political ranting from multiple people in LJ was just making me depressed, not educated. And no, I don't want to bother with filters any more than you want to bother with cut tags. So I made my choice.
