I liked last year's roundup post so much, I'm doing it again. My goal with the book blog posts continues to be trying to write for understanding of people who read those posts. My intention was to talk about the flavor of the book, maybe some of the plot, and especially for whom I would recommend a book, and why. I like to think that I did a pretty good job of that in the beginning, but it really tailed off as I stopped posting reviews almost entirely.
I also made no commitments for work/nonfiction reading, and therefore read none. I completely slacked off from posting my reviews to GoodReads or Amazon. Maybe I'll go back and catch up. However, this year, I actually kept track of my re-reads. It made for an interesting exercise in trying not to re-re-read something too quickly.
In 2012, Silence, by Michele Sagara was my hands-down favorite. This year, I think that Written in Red, by Anne Bishop, takes that honor. While I only wrote it down for one re-read, that was after I had read it three times straight. In fact, I re-read 56 works ranging from children's literature to comic books during 2013 (that I remembered to record)

7/9/13 - The Mad Scientist's Guide to World Domination is an anthology that I kept picking up and putting down more and more slowly until it finally slid into the giveaway box. It's not that the stories were bad, per se, so much as I found the madness depressing.
8/29/13 - Green, by Jay Lake. 188 pages into the story, I was still missing a plot, and I had lost sympathy for the main character.
11/20/13 - Coins of Chaos. I only bought it for the Seanan McGuire story. It was too dark and depressing for me to go on.
