There is a herd of deer out between our house and the next door neighbor's that contains at least five healthy babies/yearlings. This is the third or fourth time I've seen them playing calvinball tag around the house over there. They have cat-crazies, stampede one direction, change directions, split into two groups, run back together, stop and flip their tails around, eat a few bites, and do it all again. I witnessed two play-fights, where two deer went up on hind legs and kicked at each other.
And now they are browsing their ways down the slope as though they were perfectly pastoral.
Welcome to spring.
