Goats, gripes, and grasping for greatness
Sprinkle hats are +3 of forcible cheer
9th-Jan-2015 11:57 am
I really didn't want to go outside yesterday in the way-too-coldness. So I wore my sprinkle hat with the floppy pompom to make the day less grey and serious. I determined, after wearing it everywhere yesterday (and looking at it all day on my coat-tree), that there is something forcibly cheerful about that ludicrous hat.

My boss-boss really liked my hat yesterday. She was best described as "gleeful" over it. So I gave her the smaller one today for keeps. She put it on immediately and burst into grins.

That is an excellent hat!

Thank you! I happen to agree.

The yarn colorway is called "Quite a Party."

That is a relentlessly cheerful hat!

Being able to give away handmade goods is cheerful-making too!

relentlessly cheerful is a great description!

Yes, I like making things that people covet, so that I can give them away. Of course, I like receiving things too. MegKnitsALot made a fantastic Painted Sun shawl for me that averages six complements a wearing. photo - only available if you have a Ravely account, unfortunately.

Yes! I saw it at New York Sheep and Wool done in flame colors ("painted sun" - duh) and stood there drooling for a good five minutes. AmazonMink told MegKnitsALot about it...

Here's a public picture of it - http://www.knitting-delight.com/shop/images/product_images/popup_images/179_0.jpg

Gorgeous, but I'm a bit cheap when it comes to patterns and can't quite get my mind around paying that much for a shawl pattern. If I'm going to shell out, for me it's all about the yarn, though I tend to be a very careful shopper there too.

It's killing me that Webs has a fairly well regarded cashmere going for $20/50gm right now, because I could only afford a couple hanks, but that would be enough for a shawl, but I knit myself 3 nice shawls (merino, extra fine merino, and a mid grade alpaca) this past year and haven't worn them because I run hot with my damn autoimmune crap. But it's cashmere.... *laugh*

Yes, I agree that cashmere is amazing. I've found a couple of places that sell reclaimed sweater yarn that have cheap cashmere. You might try looking for them.
