I love the intersection of the consumer culture and the farm culture here in America. I love that I can call my choice of three different local business and order a backhoe rental
- complete with delivery/pick-up - for less than $500 for a weekend. Just an address and a credit card is all I need to live the John Deere* dream.
Actually, I really love the idea that, with a credit card and a delivery address, I could get just about anything
sent to my house within about three days. Amazon Prime only enlarged what was already true about so many things. Need earth-moving equipment? Goats? Food? How about 12 dozen balloons and a guy in a gorilla suit singing Happy Birthday? Anything can be yours here in America, land of consumerism (and poor taste).
*Actually, it's a "Wacker Neuson" brand, but that doesn't ring the same.
