Justin-goat

Weekend roundup: Rhinebeck (New York Sheep & Wool)

I'm back from Rhinebeck, with my little bag of loot. I had a great time. The drive up was lousy - accidents and traffic everywhere - but at least the scenery was nice. The weather was good, the Beakman Arms hotel was great, and J & A were perfect roommates.

The rain blew away by the time I left dinner on Friday night, leaving Saturday cold and windy, but mostly clear. Sunday was even warmer. The Beakman Arms has a lounge with a fireplace; we had mulled cider in front of the fire on Saturday night.

The festival was fun, but there was too much to do and not enough time to do it.
I did not go through every barn/display, and I'm ok with that. I did end up shopping more than I expected, and got some presents as well as some fun stuff for myself. How did those four balls of sock yarn get in my bag? We'll see how long it takes for me to actually *use* any of my new loot, because I have a few works in progress to get finished before I can start the next things.

The goat show was loooooong, but interesting. Collapse )

J is the best mom I've ever seen in action. She is very calm, and totally baby-focused, but in a way that doesn't leave out the adults around her. I could go on and on about it, but suffice to say, A should never have a moment of insecurity growing up. His mom loves him, and is perfectly competent and capable in every way.
