childhood comes to Chanty Sing - Barges; Titanic, Paddles

I found "Barges" listed under campfire songs. Which makes sense, since I learned it as a child from Mom. One of the places I hit that had a LOT of songs from my childhood is here: http://www.stafflounge.net/songbook.htm . It has Barges, Titanic, and Paddles listed. I'm so pleased!

BARGES

Chorus:
Barges, I would like to go with you,
I would like to sail the ocean blue.
Barges, have you treasurers in your hold?
Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

Verse:

Out of my window looking in the night,
I can see the barges flickering light.
Silently flows the water to the sea,
And the barges, too, float silently.

Out of my window looking in the night,
I can see the barges flickering light.
Starboard shines green and
Port shines ruby red,
And the barges signal far ahead.

How my heart longs to sail away with you,
I would like to sail the ocean blue.
But I must stay beside my window dear,
As I watch you sail away from here.

CHORUS 2:
Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, on the river you may roam
On the river, always, you're at home

TITANIC

Oh, they built the ship Titanic to sail the ocean blue
They said this is the ship that the water will never get through.
But the Lord He raised His hand, said the ship will never stand.
It was sad when the great ship went down.

Chorus:
It was sad- so -sad
It was sad- so -sad
It was sad when the great ship went down,
to the bottom of the sea.....
Husbands, wives, little children lost their lives,
It was sad when the great ship went down.

They were off the coast of England, and headed for the shore,
When the rich refused to associate with the moor.
So they sent them down below, where they did not want to go.
It was sad when the great ship went down. (Chorus)

They sent those life boats out on the wild and raging sea.
The band was playing " Nearer My God To Thee"
The children wept and cried as the waves swept over the sides.
It was sad when the great ship went down. (chorus)

Oh the moral of this story, is very plain to see,
Always wear a life preserver, when ever you're at sea.
For the Lord He raised His hand,
said that ship would never stand.
It was sad when the great ship went down. ( Chorus)

PADDLES

Our paddles, keen and bright
Flashing like silver,
Follow the wild goose flight,
Dip, dip, and swing.

Dip, dip and swing them back,
Flashing like silver.
Swift as the wild goose flies,
Dip, dip and swing.
