Christmas on the Farm

If you are thinking about your resolution to Buy Fresh, Buy Local for this coming holiday season, I highly recommend that you participate in Christmas on the Farm.

Local farmers, crafters and artisans will be offering a wide selection of locally grown and hand-crafted products at the Eighth Annual Archwood Green Barns "Christmas on the Farm" show and sale. The Barns will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the first two weekends in December, something new for this year. Vendors will be available both Saturday and Sunday, the 6th & 7th, as well as the 13th & 14th. As usual, we will have snow dates in place, December 20th & 21st, in case of inclement weather. Many of your favorite, weekly vendors will be with us, as well as several new vendors with exciting gift ideas for the Christmas season. Hometown Gardens, Lawns and Landscapes will be offering fresh-cut, premium Fraser Firs each Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. starting the weekend after Thanksgiving. Wreaths and roping will also be available at the Barns for all your holiday decorating. Hot drinks, cold desserts, chili, tamales, hot dogs, and much more will be available for lunch, as well as many samples of the products for sale in the barn. For the first time, we will have 2 barns full of vendors to help you find the perfect gift for everyone on your holiday list. A live nativity, pony rides, carriage rides, a petting farm and much more will be available. Additional events are being planned, and more vendors are making arrangements, so please call for further details.

12 noon - 2 p.m. on both Sundays
Tired of the rush at the mall? Kids too tired to wait in line for a few moments with Santa? Avoid the confusion and spend quality time with the family while you visit with the jolly old elf! Bring your camera for all your holiday pictures. Take a family portrait in front of the evergreen trees, pose with the Alpacas from Hidden Views Farm, or capture the magic of secrets whispered to Santa. The perfect picture awaits you at the Barns.

Live Nativity

Have you ever wondered what it looked like in the manger as Jesus was born? Bring the children to see the live nativity, visit with Mary and Joseph, and pet the animals that helped welcome the baby into the world on the first Christmas morning.

Premium fresh-cut Fraser Firs ranging from 5' to 12' will be offered. Gift certificates for landscaping and lawn maintenance programs will be available, and are a fabulous gift idea!

Hidden Views Farm
Nokesville, Virginia
Looking for the perfect gift for the holidays? Homemade alpaca garments, yarn, hand-carded fiber and felted alpaca treasures made from Hidden Views Farm Alpacas will warm the heart of anyone on your holiday list! Come meet the alpacas that provide these luxurious items - weather permitting. Hidden Views Farm will also be providing baked goods using the farm's fresh eggs, including homemade egg noodles, variety of pies and Christmas cookies. Or pick up steaks for New Year's Eve, whatever your pleasure! Don't forget to stop and pick up oysters for stuffing that will turn heads! Fresh oysters from Virginia will be offered to complement the farm's beef. And if you're looking for large orders, call ahead!


Dromore Designs & Celtic Rootes
Charlottesville, Virginia
A wide variety of exotic items await you on the McGregor's table. Hand-made jewelry, crafted from semi-precious and native stones will be available. Most of the stones are cut and polished by hand, and many are native stones of Virginia. If jewelry isn't your thing, peruse the hand made knives by Malcolm. The handles are made from exotic woods that are high density and resistant to water. Most of the woods are from the Everglades, but you will also find woods from Brazil, and Ebony from Africa. The blades are high carbon steel from antique tools and swords. Everything offered is a unique art form, as well as utilitarian and functional.

A local, cut-flower grower will be returning this year with wonderful decorations for the holiday season.
