I checked the SAFF site, and there is a request posted there for no shearing after April 30th, so I can just forget it. I have no intention of holding off on shearing for nearly three extra months just to attend a show. My goats aren't that good and my competitive spirit isn't that high.
My boss told me that our annual work shindig for the weekend of October 16th might only run on Friday, so there is a *tiny* chance that I could go to NYS&W, but it depends on whether the colored goat show is on Saturday or Sunday. And, of course, rooms up there are rented YEARS in advance, and I don't have a place to stay... I'm sure I could swing it if I want it hard enough. I just have to figure out if it is at all possible in the first place. Rhinebeck is a *fabulous* show, and I had an incredible time when I took goats up there in 2007. During that visit, I sold Madison and showed Ria and Lerris, and it was just an all-around wonderful time (except for feeling pretty sick).
... did I mention that I'm insane? Going to NYS&W would require working all day and then driving 7 hours.
