Christmas plans and ponderings

I made a hotel reservation for Christmas on the hotel's web site. Then, in a fit of inspiration, I called the hotel directly to ask if there were any specials or sales. The wonderful woman on the other end explained that there was an upcoming sale, and that she would override my reservation today to change it to that price rather than making me call back tomorrow. As soon as I got that e-mail confirmation, I did a little happy dance and logged onto the hotel's feedback section to send a glowing little review about her that didn't actually say that she bent the rules.

On the other hand, what's up with United? I just looked at plane flights. There is a nice looking schedule with a not-so-nice-looking price. The little tag said "only one seat left at this price" so I checked all four legs of the round-trip for sell-outs. None of the flights are more than half full, yet the round-trip price is over $680. What's up with that?
